The Partnership for Children receives grants from Mid-Carolina Area Agency on Aging and the Brookdale Foundation Group Relatives as Parents Program (RAPP) for relative caregivers who are raising children living with them ages birth to 18. This mutual self-help group is empowered through workshops, trainings, crafts, sharing of their talents and experiences, and conference attendance.
Childcare is provided by Resource Lending Library staff in the Omni Family Resource Center Children’s Room. Support groups can be a great boon to grandparents raising grandchildren who face an unexpected lifestyle change. By offering a place to share information, solutions, and feelings with peers going through the same experiences, support groups can help families tremendously.
The Grandparent Support Group meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month in the morning from 10:30 am - 12:00 noon and on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 5:00 - 6:30 pm.
