Committee Description

Consists of the officers, immediate past President, Chairs of standing committees, and two other directors of the Board. 

  • If the immediate Past President is unable or unwilling to serve, the Board of Directors may approve the service of another Past President in the place of the immediate Past President. 

  • Acts in the capacity of the Board between meetings of the Board except when acting in matters of bylaws revisions, Board director or officer nominations and except as limited by N.C.G.S. 55A-8-25. 
    • Shall not have the authority to reverse decisions previously made by the full Board.
  • Reviews operational, programmatic and financial matters. 
  • Charged with the responsibility of establishing, implementing, and reviewing the bylaws where appropriate.
  • Members are also responsible for assessing the performance of the Executive Director by providing confidential written input to the President.

Committee Meetings:

  • The Executive Committee usually meets the last Friday of every month from 9:00–11:00 a.m. During the month that the Board meets, the committee meets the Friday prior to the Board meeting or directly after Finance on the third Tuesday. Meetings may from time to time be cancelled or additional meetings may be called.

Role of Chair

  • Maintains order during a committee meeting. Conducts the meeting according to the agenda. Be the responsible person for presenting the committee’s report at the bimonthly Board meeting.

Role of Member

  • Attends a minimum of 80% of the Executive Committee meetings
  • Be prepared for meetings by reading materials prior to the meetings
  • RSVP prior to meeting
  • Assists in special events, such as Smart Start Day, expos, town meetings, open houses, tours or Tuesday’s for Tots
  • It is the desire that all members contribute monetarily.   Members need not give equal amounts but must make an equal commitment toward helping the organization provide services.

 Role of the PFC Staff

  • Ensures that proper planning is done so issues are adequately covered in the meetings
  • Prepares materials and forms
  • Solicits and compiles research and promising practices
  • Compiles minutes that adequately reflect the committee’s findings, conclusions and recommendations.
