2005-06: Not By Chance: Integrated & Comprehensive Early Childhood System
- A new feature, the Early Childhood System Report Card, was added to our Annual Report.
- The long-range planning efforts represented significant board involvement and resulted in major improvements to include additions of the Planning Assumptions and the Strategic Focus/Priorities.
- PFC received a record number of proposals (42) for the 2006/2008 Smart Start allocation from child-care and education professionals, organizations, and agencies interested in working toward our goal that every child enters kindergarten healthy and prepared for success.
- The second wing, Omni II, of the Omni Family Resource Center was purchased in early August of 2005. The Partnership Board was successful in securing a 15 year note at a 5.8% fixed interest rate, with the added opportunity for an early payoff without penalty.
- The Omni Family Resource Center is 95% occupied and is the home to 19 agencies serving families. Omni s ervices are inclusive for typically and non-typically developing children. It is important to note that 12 of the 19 Omni partners specialize in serving children with special need.

- There was a 200 slot increase in the More at Four Public Pre-Kindergarten program bringing the total to 736 slots.
- A successful collaboration with FSU resulting in Dr. Marion Gillis-Olion serving as our Special Advisor on Early Care and Education.
- As a result of clean audit and the availability of a fully trained staff the Lee County Partnership for Children resumed independence from our Partnership’s administration.
- Received fantastic volunteer response from a new community business – KOHLS.
- PFC received the North Carolina United Way Spirit Award.
