2001-2002 : Improving Children's Readiness
For School
- PFC’s SMART START funding is reduced from
$15 million to $11 million.
- Cumberland County is a pilot site for the state in
the Pre-k Licensing Project with the Division of Child
Development.
- Out of 25 fast track applicants, Cumberland County
is one of 12 communities to be selected to implement
the More at Four Pre-kindergarten Program. The
successful collaboration between PFC and Cumberland
County Schools brings $352,000 to Cumberland County through
the More at Four Pre-kindergarten Grant to provide
quality classroom programs for 88 children at-risk of
school failure.
- Child Care Solutions becomes an accredited CCR&R
service.
- Professional Development Counseling Center is offered
through Child Care Solutions to increase the number of
Early Childhood teachers with associate and bachelor
of science degrees.
- A delegation from San Jose California visits PFC on May 2 to see a Model Smart Start organization.
- Cumberland County is the pilot site for the state
in the pre-k licensing project with the DCD.
